Fryern Recreation Ground

Fryern Recreation Ground and Jubilee Garden – A Space for All Ages

Fryern Recreation Ground is a much-loved green space in the heart of our parish, offering a variety of facilities for children, young people, and families to enjoy.

For older children and teens, the park includes a halfpipe skate ramp, a fully enclosed hard-surface basketball court, and five-a-side goals, creating an energetic hub for sports and socialising.

Younger children can explore a modern, well-equipped play area, featuring a range of climbing, sliding, and interactive play equipment – including a popular electronic team game machine that encourages fun and cooperation. The play area is securely fenced, making it a safe space for families with toddlers and young children.

We regularly review and improve this space with new trees recently planted near the play area to provide natural shade — creating cooler, more comfortable spots for rest and relaxation during warmer months.

But Fryern is more than just equipment – it’s a community green space, ideal for picnics, meet-ups, casual play, and fresh air. Whether you're here for sport, a gentle stroll, or just time outdoors with the kids, Fryern Recreation Ground is a place to relax and enjoy.

Adjacent to the main recreation ground is the Jubilee Garden – a tranquil, landscaped area with formal planting and shaded seating, perfect for taking a peaceful moment away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Originally created to celebrate Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, the garden was fully rejuvenated in April 2023 with a fresh, contemporary design commissioned from Carly Kershaw, a Silver Medalist at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show (2021). The result is a thoughtfully curated space that blends structure, colour, and calm – a special corner of the park for reflection, relaxation, or simply enjoying the view.
