80th Anniversary of VE Day

πŸ“… Thursday 8th May 2025

πŸ•› 8.45pm – 9.40pm

πŸ“ Hiltingbury Recreation Ground

Thursday 8th May 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day) – the day in 1945 when the Second World War came to an end in Europe.

Across the country and in our own community, VE Day 80 provides a moment to remember the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience of those who lived through the war – both on the front lines and at home.

It is also an opportunity to reflect on the peace, freedom, and unity that followed.

As part of the national commemoration, we will be marking the occasion at Hiltingbury Recreation Ground with Michelmersh Silver Band providing a background of beautiful music as we prepare to light the official beacon at 9.30pm.Β  There will be the reading of the Official tributes and everyone is welcome to join Emily Blackledge, as accompanied from Michelmersh Silver Band, as she sings the hymn 'I Vow To Thee My Country'.

The 4th Chandler's Ford Scouts will proudly parade in honour of those who served.

Light refreshments will be available courtesy of the 4th Chandler's Ford Scouts.

We invite residents of all ages to join us in remembering this historic day and honouring the legacy of those who served.
